Nguisse Nare - Natural JARC 74158 (Extra-Light)

Sale price¥3,300 JPY

This is our first time featuring a coffee from Nguisse Nare, a respected producer from the Bensa region. This specific lot was produced and processed with the help of Nguisse's neighbours. Extra-light profiles are generally some of the lightest roasts we offer and require additional rest for best results. They generally sacrifice initial intensity of sweetness and acidity for clarity. If you enjoy sweet, juicy and balanced cups, we recommend our traditional light roast over this extra-light variant.

producer iconAbout The Producer

Nguisse Nare is a part of a small number of single origin producers who dedicate time and resources to improving natural processing and harvesting of traceable single origins in Ethiopia. Nguisse grows JARC 74158, taro, and sweet potato. He focuses on natural and anaerobic processing, often processing coffee cherries grown and collected by his neighbours in addition to his own.

process iconProcessing

The Setame farm has its own drying station, which gives Nguisse control over the process from start to finish. The cherries for this lot are collected, floated, and then dried slowly for approximately 20 days, resulting in a deeply sweet and complex cup.

variety iconVariety

The Jimma Agricultural Research Centre (JARC), one of Ethiopia's federal agricultural research centers, approved the release of 74158 in 1979. The variety originally came out of the Metu Bishari Selections taken from mother plants from the Metu Woreda (district) of the Illuababor zone. 74158 was selected and propagated for its high yield potential and resistance to coffee berry disease.
