Finca El Chaferote is located in San Agustín, Huila, Colombia, and managed by Erick Bravo, a third-generation coffee grower. The farm consists of 9 hectares of land, with 2.5 hectares considered a natural reserve, since the farm is located right on the banks of the Magdalena River. It sits at an elevation of 1,550 m.a.s.l, and boasts 22,000 coffee trees in production, with varieties ranging from Pink Bourbon, Colombia, Castillo, and Catimore. This specific lot was harvested in October/November 2023. In addition to this delicious lot, Erick and his family have placed 5th in Huila Mágico competition in 2020 and 2021 and have consistently placed high in Colombia’s Cup of Excellence Competitions! Finca El Chaferote is 9 hectares (22 acres) in total. 2.5 of those hectares are considered nature reserve on the banks of the Magdalena River. Erik currently has 15,000 trees of Pink Bourbon, 1,000 trees of V. Colombia, 2,000 trees of Castillo, and 4,000 trees of Catimore.

This coffee is processed 48 hours in cherry, followed by another 36-hour dry-ferment after de-pulping. Upon washing the coffees, they are laid out to dry in a greenhouse for approximately 15-20 days, depending on the weather.

Pink Bourbon is a variety primarily grown in Huila, Colombia and while newer, it has quickly grown in popularity for its bright, sweet and aromatic profiles. It is now known to be an Ethiopian Landrace but further information is not available at this time.
